Description

Antique wooden molding plane, hand-forged with a shaped wooden body and steel cutting iron secured by a wedge, used historically by woodworkers and craftsmen to cut decorative profiles into wood trim and furniture components. The plane is stamped "Greenfield Tool Co., Greenfield, Mass.," a well-known American plane maker active in the 19th century, and also bears the stamp "Coysh, Upholsterer," along with a size marking of "3/4," suggesting a later owner or trade use by a tradesman named Coysh working in the upholstery trade. The plane features the traditional horn-style grip at the top of the blade wedge. Measures approximately 5.75" H x 1.5" W x 9.5" L.
