Description

Hand-carved stoneware tile depicting a European old-town skyline, with a tall Gothic tower featuring twin spires and stepped brickwork rising above a row of gabled townhouses. The scene is rendered in deep relief with a warm amber glaze pooling into the carved lines, giving strong depth and texture. The reverse is incised with an artist's signature (partially legible) and has a keyhole-style hanging slot, indicating this was made as a wall-mounted decorative tile. Pieces like this are appealing to collectors of studio pottery and architectural folk art for their handmade, one-of-a-kind carving. Measures approximately 2.75" H x 2.75" W x 0.75" D.

Condition:

Good condition overall. Glaze is glossy and intact with no visible chips or cracks. A small light-colored glaze fleck/inclusion is visible on the front sky area (see photos), consistent with the firing process rather than damage.
