Whimsical ceramic figural coin bank in the form of a ram, with a glossy white glazed body decorated with hand-painted sage-green scroll/wave motifs, and large curled horns detailed in tan glaze. A coin slot is set into the back, with a rubber stopper on the underside for coin retrieval. The base bears the original paper label reading "Takahashi, San Francisco, Made in Japan," identifying it as a piece from Takahashi, a mid-20th-century San Francisco-based importer and designer of Japanese-made ceramic giftware. Measures H: 3.5", W: 5.75", L: 2.5". A charming and collectible figural bank.
