The book is illustrated with images from the Connolly Tarot deck and serves as an instructional guide to tarot interpretation, drawing on the author's research into the tarot's roots, traced in the text to the Gnothi Seauton ("Know Thyself") maxim attributed to Thales around 624 to 546 B.C.
