The reverse is marked "Spode, England, Gadroon, Spode Design c.1823," identifying the shape as one of Spode's long-running gadroon-edged forms, a design dating to the early 19th century and produced by the factory in various guises for generations since. The undecorated white glaze lets the sculptural rim and handle detailing take center stage, making these versatile for pairing with patterned dinnerware or displaying on their own.
