A set of three English earthenware Christmas tree mugs from two different makers: two are marked "Spode, Made in England, Christmas Tree, S3324-A0" and feature Spode's well-known decorated tree motif with a Santa figure tucked among the branches and a mistletoe sprig printed inside the rim, while the third is marked "Cuthbertson, Original Christmas Tree, Made in England" and shows a similarly decorated tree topped with a star rather than Santa, with a plain interior. Both makers' Christmas tree designs have been produced for decades and are widely collected, with Cuthbertson's version often cited as a direct predecessor to Spode's own tree pattern. As the mugs come from two different manufacturers, they should be considered a complementary grouping rather than a matched set.
