Two-volume set of "Washington and His Generals" by J.T. Headley, this Charles Scribner printing dated New York, 1864 (the work itself originally copyrighted 1847). Bound in blind-embossed brown cloth boards with gilt-lettered leather spine labels reading "Washington and His Generals, J.T. Headley," illustrated throughout with steel-engraved portraits of Revolutionary War figures — including Washington, Benedict Arnold, Nathanael Greene, and William Moultrie — each accompanied by a facsimile of the subject's signature. The book profiles Washington's generals chapter by chapter, covering figures such as Greene, Moultrie, Knox, and Lincoln. A solid addition for American history and Revolutionary War book collectors.

Condition Report:

Fair to good antique condition, wear commensurate with significant age. Volume II shows notable wear: the spine covering is detached/loose with the original leather label separated from the spine and exposed cords and sewing structure visible, along with heavy rubbing to the spine ends. Volume I is more stable but shows spine wear, rubbing to the cloth boards, and shaken hinges. Interior pages in both volumes show scattered foxing and toning consistent with age; the engraved plates remain clear. No dimensions were provided for this lot.
